Have a great month everyone. I guess you lucky ducks who went to Maastricht will think it's going to be dull after the events of July.
I just found this such a beautiful picture from that lovely dvd, Jeanine Ann you know how to spoil us thank you, Sylvia the Anzac biscuit recipe is on the july site? I do hope ANDRE'& Marjorie have a lovely holiday they both deserve it I wonder where they will go, by car no doubt as Marjorie does'nt like to fly, just hope fans will give them breathing space, Himself is very recognizable unless He dresses down, He could always put His hair in a pony tale,???? my mind boggles just thinking about them, they both deserve some quiet time, can Andre' ever be trully quiet, it seems to me His mind is forever working;?????

Eve, Deirdre, Shirley, Josephine, Ruth, everyone - the PHOTOBOOK just came today and it is just beautiful!! No it is beyond beautiful. I won't tell you too much in the event you have it ordered. The pictures are breathtaking. I have gone through it twice and must see it again. Yes it is in Dutch but the photos make up 99% of the book and we can translate the Dutch through Google at least that is what I have been told haha. Hugs

I've just started to learn Dutch. From the Internet! I sounds a lot like German (which I have no idea about), but the way His Gorgeousness speak Dutch, is just delicious, could listen to Him like forever!

Dear Fay, My mind boggles at the thought of Andre with a ponytail but he may have to do something so he can have a private holiday but I am sure they know exactly where to go.
I am looking forward to getting my Photobook and scarf perhaps my postie will deliver before Deidre's [would he dare] but anticipation is half the enjoyment so they say.
I have the DVD with Andre walking along the beach as above and it is a favourite as so many are.

Oh yes my friends. andre with a pony tail. That will do for me. Mind you Andre with anything will do for me.As long as he smiles that beutiful smile and twinkles those beautiful eyes and swings those beautiful legs he can't go wrong in my eyes. I do hope he is enjoying his home time. I don't expect he really wants to go on holiday as he is away from home so much anyway. If I were Marjorie I would be the happiest lady alive just to have Andre at home with me. I think they are both workaholics though.
Well my friends it has been a glorious day here in UK. Who could wish for more. Beautiful weather. Beautiful men in my life. Beautiful music and beautiful friends..I am so lucky.I count my blessings every day

Hi all. I have just been reading that Andre says he is actually going to have a month off. May spend a while in a city where no-one knows him!!!!? Then spend the rest of the time at home with Marjorie. So my dear friends, if he stays true to his word maybe we won't have a Maastricht 2012 date for a month

to take time out & use a disguise, I can imagine a few ideas for Andre' but as He is treated with such respect in Maastricht, perhaps to stay at home take shoes & sox off & have quality time with each other would be great for both Andre' & Marjorie, also those granbabies would be running around now, to spend extra time with them would be so great for Andre'with Him being away so much he would miss a few milestones of their lives, I heard an interview Pierre gave where He said his dad loves to change nappies, I wonder does He do the pooy ones, oh I just hope they have a relaxed happy & safe time; I stopped voting for Andre' on that site ages ago as I object to voting for dead people, I went back yesterday to look & people are still voting for Elvis & Micheal Jackson, I don't understand how a dead person can be man of the year, maybe I am just silly, I would be interested to know what you all think ??????
Dear Fay, How I agree with your all your message. We all know about Elvis and Micheal Jackson but we are the here and now as far as I know Andre has also done a lot and we love him to bits, i am still voting for him. I must admit I was never really a fan of Elvis or Michael, but Andre!!! need I say more!! so everyone keep voting!.And NO you are not silly I too wonder why people vote for a person who is no longer with us. A Billion, Million, Zillion "Thank You's" to Sylvia. This Proper Lady is Very Special, Caring and always Looking after me! July has been a cruel month for me in many ways. We here have experienced that sweltering and very humid weather for 20-days straight also. Those little creature comforts such as air conditioning in home or in the car have chosen such a naughty time to leave me. Have spent many hours in the hospital just to 'stay too cool', I realize there are very many folks who are suffering twice as bad (ex: our friend Shirley, I heard 114 degrees HOT), unprecedented month of JULY world wide! My basic menu for July has been lots of watermelon, frozen green grapes, lots of H2o and seeking any running water to relax or try to relax in. Wishing all our Blog Buddies some relief - S-O-O-N!
DEIRDRE: I am sending you LOTS of heat and humidity to 'warm you up' and honey, these here are 'not hot flashes' if you are old enough to know what I am talking about.
DEAR SYLVIA: I tried very early in the AM 3a-4a to write you as I could not sleep, but Mother Nature gave us a very brilliant 'Lightening Show', so I got the message and logged off. (smart move as we had a lightening strike nearby)
AND....JEANINE ANN: boy oh boy, what with me not being on the blog for s-o l-o-n-g, I owe you a heck of a note. So happy you have a new little Beauty of a Kitty.
Hi Judith,yes, the heat has been unbearable here, records are being broken.On one of our hottest days our air conditioner quit too. called the repair man 7 said they would try to work us in later in the day, the temp in the house was already getting close to the outside. Was not good, but, miracle, 10 min. later the repairman said they had a cancellation & he would be out in 20 min! whoopie. Our capacitor had gone out, but we were soon back to cool. whoopie!!! I've been sicker than a dog for most of the month, mostly back pain. got my x-rays back yesterday & seems i have dengenerative bone disease, mostly lower back. haven't had a good nights sleep for so long. Dr prescribed me a pain med & last night was the first night I've had a pain free night.I'm still groggy now but feeling no pain. I've been eating about like you have, light & cool.It's too bad you have to go to hospital to keep cool but you have to do something. COOL is the name of the game! hang in there girl.
Dear Shirley, so glad you finally got a good nights sleep. Can they do anything except for pain medicine? I am praying for you every day. Take care and stay in the cool air if you can. It is better here but the humidity is high. Big hugs to you and lots of love.
Jeanine Ann, I start physical therapy on Tues. & will probably do some water exercises too.
Shirley, I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. I wish I could take it all away from you. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know. I send my thoughts and prayers that your pain will go away very soon. I'm not sure what your diagnosis means, but please take care of yourself, do your exercises as instructed and be a good girl and do what the doc tells you.
My son ordered a book from the Andre Rieu site for my birthday in May. After three weeks he contacted the help desk to say it had not arrived. Another copy was sent and received, but the first book never did make it to my door.
The help desk really do help.

I now have a camera cellphone to take instant photos of anyone of importance in Maastricht next year. I can also take a video of the whole concert!! My boys picked the phone JUST for Maastricht because they know that their Mom doesn't want to miss a single thing or opportunity to take photos of André and the JSO!! Good evening dear friends. Wow it has been a scorcher here today in UK. Rain tomorrow though so that will cool things down. Nothing will ever cool my love for His Gorgeousness though.
I wonder where he has gone on holiday. I hope he is relaxing wherever it is. I shall keep an eye out in my town in case he is here!!! He can try to disguise himself as much as he wants but he won't fool me. I would know those legs anywhere!!!!

Hi everyone, want to bring you up to date on Camellia. I don't know if I told you or not but she developed a cough a few weeks ago and the vet put her on medications. She was still coughing yesterday so we took her and had them X-Ray her. She was also licking her fur and now has a big bald area and that was just in the range of two days. But anyway she has a collapsed lung on her right side. She had been on Prednisone to stop the bald spots and that worked. So she was weaned off that drug after the vet found the lung problem. Now she has both problems plus she has a little asthma but not bad. We thought asthma was the big problem but it is the lung. So now she is back on Prednisone and an antiobiotic plus a topic ointment for the bald spots. Poor kitty. When they come from a kennel you just never know what can be wrong with them. But we will take care of her as we did with Cotton. Have any other cat owners had a similar problem with their kitties?

Haven't had that problem thank heaven. Vet was here today for an annual checkup. Benny is frail and thin, just watch him. He didn't get his rabies shot because he is so frail. He does eat but is extremely thin. The others are okay except Eddy is way too heavy. Saw signs of fleas (oh no)! Don't know if vet saw the actual flea but "flea dirt." So all will be treated and things thoroughly washed, etc. This time they are going to get treated year round to prevent the fleas completely.
I know you never know what you are getting from a kennel but on the whole the results for me have been wonderful. Except for Persephone who was about 10 years older than the shelter told me, and died three months after I got her, the others have been a joy. Various problems, but it happens with thoroughbreds also. My neighbor has two from a breeder, and they have as many problems as any shelter cat. So I will always go with shelter and/or strays. Joey was a stray and is a beautiful cat, not too friendly except whe he wants something. Benny was from a shelter, Eddy was a private transaction from a woman who takes in stray cats, and, as you know, Hercules was a stray who was taken in by a neighbor who didn't take care of him and her son abused him, so he moved in here. They moved out and didn't even ask about him. Vet said he is a "solid, handsome cat." He's gone from a tiny kitten to a very solid small cat.
What caused Camillia's lung to collapse does he know? Can they inflate it like they do with people? Poor thing. Keep me posted.

It is so muggy here in Uk too. We don't do air conditioning in our houses in this country. It usually isn't that hot. We have it in the car though which is wonderful
We are vever satisfied with the weather though are we? Either too hot or too cold. We are so lucky though we don't get the extremes here and we have plenty of cool clean water to drink unlike some poor souls

Thank you so much for the video (You Raise Me Up), it is beautiful! Hope Camellia gets well soon. When I got Lulu as a tiny little kitty, she had a sore eye(cold in her eye) and a runny stomach. We had her taken to the vet for four weeks and every time he ran a different tests. She was put on a different medication each time. Eventually I took her to another vet and he had her cured in no time! I love her to bits and cannot think a life without my Lulu! xx

RUTH, you can purchase Andre's photographic book via His web site, Andre Rieu.com its a hard cover book, with beautiful paper, enhanced by the natural photos,of Andre' His violin, some of the JSO, 1 of Marc & a couple of Pierre, the writing is in Netherlands, but I did'nt buy it for the writing, I bought it for the photos & I am NOT dissapointed, just the opposite in fact;SYLVIA & KEITH, I hope you are feeling a little better, I wear a magnetic bracelet I left it off for a week, just to see if it really worked, I can not believe how bad the joints in my fingers are, the Heamatites do work I won't leave it off again, also the stem of orchids that came with all the beautiful fruit is still alive a couple of the bottom flowers I have had to remove but there are still 8 left, plus 1 granny smith apple, I shared a little of the fruit with a neighbour, where I live there are 6 villas, 2x2bedroom & 4x1bedroom we all look out for each other, which makes for happier living, I have to say again I have'nt seen fruit of that quality for a long time, so your gift brought lots of joy thank you;

Hello Ruth, I had an e-mail regarding new album from Andre's website a week or so ago. It says can be ordered from Amazon.co.uk, also there will be more news about it soon. I personally will not order it yet as it seems to come with dvd from Amazon and don't know what that will be, date of release is 7th November. Hope that helps.

Hi Jeanine Ann, Yes it is on the Amazon.co.uk website pre-order- title to be announced. It doesn't say on the e-mail I have from Andre website whether a cd and dvd it just states album. I know from the Australian website it said dvd with the best from European concerts so don't know if the same in UK. The e-mail says it will give more information about album soon. I love that poetry very clever, perhaps i need to explain about The Lady's of The night, early this year Deirdre's son Juandre called to visit a while & enjoy a cuppa, prior to coming here to Australia he looked up our adress on google,well at the bottom of our street is an estate agents called Hooker's, Juandre' thought we lived near "ladies of the night"God love him he still visited us, I can really enjoy the funny side of this; Ruth I live in Australia & we use pal also, I usually buy via ovation here , I will go back & look for Andre's book; maybe I received an email & followed the prompts?????

I was looking for the song
"The Gypsy/Come Gypsy" for so long and Bob found it for me. André plays it beautifully. It has an Hungarian/Russian sound to it. André used to play it in earlier years and he then tells the story of the Gypsy girl that asks someone to play on his violin! It is not available on You Tube and is very hard to find!! I sometimes wish that André would play more solos at his concerts. I just love to watch him play. I capture his face on his DVDs and it makes out beautiful pictures. He has such a 'feel' for music and you can read his 'feelings' on his face while he is playing the violin! Hugs xxxx

Oh hey guys, that video is the one I took in Wilkes-Barre!! I am "andresgirl" on YouTube. I have 18 videos on there. Okay this song is "Kum Zigany". The other gypsy song is "Hor ich Zimbaklange" and he tells the same story about the Geiger in the bushes. That song is on the DVD "The Vienna I Love" which was at the Carré in Amsterdam. But they are two different songs. DEIRDRE we did not get that storm yet thank goodness but I expect we will get another one sweetie. Will email you later!!

In the 19th and the 20th century and I guess even now, they used to spend time in pubs singing and dancing till morning when they were in love or just sad. There always was a gypsy band around, even in elegant restaurants. The violinist and conductor of the band would go from table to table asking for your favorite song, play it. Then you're supposed to pay him : stick a 100 Forint bill on his forehead.
That is the scene immortalized in Imre Kalman's operetta: Countess Maritza.
It's a shame, but I had to do some search: I knew the tune & the lyrics, but I couldn't remember the operetta. My Mom would've come up with the answer in an instant!
I never really liked operettas, except when the tunes are performed by the best ever violinist in the world, the most beautiful MAN: ANDRE' RIEU!
JEANINE ANN, sweetie, I'm always up to something, you know it, now I'm going to send You a link with a tune, taken, this time, from an opera. It's the most elegant Hungarian dance, the "Palotas".
If you can open it, cos I sent it to some of my friends and they had problems opening it.

We went to Mary Duff's concert in Dubbo last night. She was absolutely beautiful and had the audience swaying and singing along, when we weren't breathless at the beauty of her voice when she sang songs like Amazing Grace and Cliffs of Dooneen.
Grayeme from our blog here gave us a nice surprise. He saw her in Queensland a couple of weeks ago and gave her a message to read out to John and me during the concert. She did and we enjoyed the moment. Thanks G.

Where is He? The eyes say He is not here. He reaches unimaginable heights. He doesn't belong to us anymore (sorry Girls, that' my impression). He doesn't belong to himself any more! Totally totally absorbed by music. A complete surrender, like He has given up himself.
A touch of sadness? Maybe.
What is He made of? He is more than Human more than Angelic. A brittle combination of these two.
And yet so strong; He can control and master these transformations and easily navigate between dimensions!
My impressions only. Maybe I'm reading too much into those eyes, but I could surely drown in them!

At the moment we are not to near the troubles but I think it could erupt anywhere as it now seems to be a free for all, as Fay says how brave they are with heads covered and balaclavas over their faces, mind you the TV showed a bloke lifting up shattered glass for thee mindless people and his face was veiwed for all, then there was the incident of a young chap who has only been in country for a month who was injured, watching you think those are kind people helping him to get up, but no they go through his rucsack and empty it!!!!. Darrell and I have just been to our local for a meal. On the way home we had the radio on in the car and The Royal Philharmonic were playing The Hornpipe

I wore my new ANDRé CONCERT SCARF to school today. It felt so good to have our lovely man around my neck! I also played some of his songs to my students and they just loved it! Then another marvelous thing happened!! Sir ANTHONY PHILIP HOPKINS ACCEPTED ME AS A FRIEND ON FACE BOOK!!! Ooohh you must see all his brilliant/marvelous photos!!! What a handsome man, but not nearly close to our André!!

Hi Jeanine Ann, Becci reminded me that she tried to learn the violin when she was about 11years old with school,Ah I remember those "cringing" days, it used to get my teeth!!if you can undestand that. Mind you she did start piano lessons when she was 4 yrs old and carried on until boys and better things came on the scene, shame really as she was very good but no use doing anything if your heart is not in it. I played piano from about 10 until my mother died when I was 13, my dad didn't have the funds for two of us to carry on, we had a pianola which was great fun. Hugs and luv Ruth

Hi Josephine, it is dull here too and threatening to rain. We are to get 2 to 3 inches today and tomorrow. Just got the grass cut in between rain drops. Took photos of my ornamental grasses and now must get a shower. It is very humid here and the sun was out about 5 minutes haha. Still working with your video for your report. Deirdre in the last few days we have had 2 programs about wildlife in South Africa, one was Bondi Vet a regular here but the vet went to remove some facial moles on the faces of 2 lions, the keeper takes these lions walking every day, brave man, the other one was about an orphan elephant the people involved found it a mate for company, a male sheep called Albert, so beautiful to see them together, sadly when they were ready to return the elephant back to the wild it got ill overnight & passed away, Albert has stayed & helps other animals, I think we humans could learn a bit from those animals, some beautifull country side, funny little hill like mountains, not sure if mountain is correct, I feel sure Andre' must have been amazed at parts of your country, so different from anywhere else, also I trully love that photo with the other posting about Andre' & Marjorie on holidays, I do wish them a beautiful break, with of course some beautiful music;

for JSO members and one for Karin contained defamatory info. Motive for the false pages is unclear but I had put
some fanmail on a few of the pages so
Karin's friend contacted me. He was able
to shutdown the phony Facebook account. I tried to do the same for mine but may
have accidentally reopened it when Mirusia posted a webpage on Twitter with
beautiful photo of her and Blinky Bill
(her family cat). The webpage was for
Facebook and after closing that account
you must stay off of Facebook for 14 days. So...who knows.

Hi Jeanine Ann, Took Winston to the vets yesterday, he has been on tablets for his liver, having had another blood test he no longer needs the tablets but the vet is a little concerned that his gloucose was quite high, this can happen due to stress of the visit. So a urine sample needed!!!! has anyone tried to get a sample from a dog, I followed him every time he went out, soon as he started tried with a mug under him and he stopped! managed a few drops but to do another sample in 2 months Becci asked when she took the sample if I could use my blood testing things as I have diabetes but was told no not really as pads are too thick and to do on skin it would need fur shaving so not going to bother, but going to see if we can try to train him, I must look funny following him round with a mug and sticking it under him. Hi Fay, the painting is all finished but must complete the room. Must get all my Andre posters and Andre related things together. I have a shrine too which must be completed haha How is Nelly? Haven't seen the postman all day!(sigh!!)Oh Girls, guess where I am going to be EXACTLY a YEAR from this day on 17 August 2012?? I'll be watching André's very first 2012 concert here in South Africa at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg!! Woweee!!! Since André started touring South Africa in 2010, I always attended his very FIRST concert in the country. Next year we will be doing the same!! He always seems a bit shy and unsure at his first concerts, but with nutty me in the audience he quickly relaxes and knows that he is loved!

DEIRDRE, jogging on the inside, I just love that quote,I googled Anne's name last night & found a web site,small world, Herself & husband retired to a small town in Wales,my father in law came from the same town, next to Andre' I just love Google,I wonder what their income is, they must laugh all the way to the bank; Sylvia congratulations on your weight loss its so easy to put on but really hard to get rid of, there is a fable about the first fig of the season alas I have forgotten it; Josephine you will love "My Music My life" its soooo funny in parts of it, Andre' as a child, so precious, I love the piece written by His brother Robert, & Andre' serving Mass, when you read it try to visualise, you may need to hurry to the loo if you have a weak bladder, it is priceless, I think even today there is still a lot of that child within Him there are moments when He gets that certain look, I think those of us who love Him know those cheeky funny looks, I treasure them & I bet Marjorie does also; have a great Andre' day;

Hi Maureen, it sounds like "Romance" but the clip is very short and was edited so we did not hear the entire song but that is what it sounds like to me. It is on "Dreaming" DVD. Hugs
To be more specific, this is Mozart's 2nd movement of his violin concerto #3
This piece has 3 movements, the allegro, the adagio, & the rondeau.
All the movments are lovely but this is my favorite. He composed this piece when he was 19 years old.
If you want a whole title it is "Mozart Violin Concert G Major Kv 216 2 Movement".

Well Jeanine Ann, I just happen to like Mozart & I knew this piece very well
but just couldn't remember which violin concerto it was so I dug out my cds
of violin concertos & found it. There are so many pieces that Mozart wrote that its' hard to remember them all, except my favorites
My other 2 favorites are the piano concert # 21 & the clarinet concerto (adagio). Manoe plays it so well too.
I am by no means a Mozart expert but I know his music when I hear it.At least most of it. I think there are a couple of them that have the name "romance" by them.

Jeanine Ann dress up nice & warm you will have the best excuse in the world for stripping off, just don't go to far, last night I rewatched Andre' at Christmas, filmed in 1998, he has hardly aged since then grey side burns, maybe just got better looking,there are 2 young boys sitting on the hay who to my eyes look like twins, maybe they belong to one of Andre's sisters I remember Him saying a sister had twins , they are so like photos of Andre' as a boy, each time I watch this dvd I look at all the candles burning & the hay, & although there were no accidents it still frightens me a bit , Its a really lovely dvd & comes with Andre' In Hamburg on New Years Eve, its title is On Holiday with Andre', wherever the "Barn"? was its a beautiful big barn, He had donkeys , sheep & goats, &He then leaves to go into a Church to Play Ave Maria, A beautiful church, with a beautiful Tabanacle, I think with St Peter on it with Book & Keys?, its past my bed time so Have a great Andre' evening & pleasant dreams of who?????????

what a fabulous film clip. How much can a girl take of those dancing LEGS.... heaps I reckon.. cold shower coming up!. I had a fall down a step at my Grandsons a week age, Obviously My mind was on someone else .Hmmmm. Injured my left foot. Dr thought it was fractured but the xray said NO thank goodness. Cant put weight on it an have a third leg stick when I go out. I feel a proper twit. I need Andres tenderness and smile to comfort me. I am having trouble ordering the new photo book which is frustrating. My payment details arent going through. They say I need a bank authorization password which hasnt happened before. I need someone to hepl me with the lenghy online process to get one. I hear it is wonderful. Must go and pay some bills now. My daughter and son in law are in Texas at the moment and are not mad about the hot humid weather! 23 degrees here for 3 days.. just perfect. Dear FAY,
André did the Marina last year when he came to South Africa for the first time. Manoe blew the whistle and I remember people getting out of their seats and they formed a 'snake' and were dancing like crazy. We were sitting on the upper level, but Juandré sat near the stage. He danced in the 'snake' and had a real ball!! André unfortunately did not play Marina this year again.We were sitting right under his nose this time. How many of you gals were rocking and rolling this afternoon?? We here in the Buffalo area experienced a 5.9 magnitude
unexpected earthquake, as they explained it as a 'rolling earthquake' which most of the East Coast experienced today. I had been sitting at my desk, writing out checks when all of a sudden, that 'infamous' chair that I constantly fall off with a THUD when I stare at Andre's BLUE EYES 'OR' AT THOSE LONG,LUSCIOUS,SEXY, SINFUL LEGGY LIMBS, when "I-felt-the-earth-move-under-my-feet-under-my-seat-under-my-house", and my 'above' ceiling fan began to make a circular movements which it never does; and this ole place was a rockin, which made me weak in the knees......as I listened to CNN announce
that the east coast was experiencing a rolling 5.9 earthquake, which originated in Virginia......NOT a very nice experience, very up setting. They say this is so very RARE in these area's that we should expect some after shocks.....not a very comfortable feeling, let alone think about! I don't mind one bit when Andre makes the earth move under my feet, BUT this here situation is a tad terrifying. Oh what a day. Anybody out there feel this rare experience?? How about you Jeanine Ann?? your on this kinda fault line? Oh well, thanks for listening, I have the rest of the evening to wonder if the earth is gonna rock and roll again. I pray NOT.

I thought Clyde was moving the table around but then we figured out what it probably was until we saw the news and confirmed our thoughts. It felf strange and I felt a little dizzy. Have just had a very hectic couple of hours, Becci's partner rang about 8.00pm, could I have the children, Becci had had a funny do, she got something stuck while having her tea and a coughing spell could not get her breath!and he was going to ring for an ambulance all hands on deck taxi to pick girls up, soon as we got to mine Lillie asked to watch the 'Lady Clogs' thank you Andre took her mind off things, Isabella needed feeding so while Lillie watched, Isabella had he milk, half way through (after burping!) no more milk to busy watching Andre!!!!. Another convert????? All tutned out well ambulance team said they think she had a panic attack.

I went to my friend Mr Google & found out about The Hook Of Holland, its a sea port in the south part of The Netherlands, makes interesting reading; DEIRDRE' has the postman arrived with you book, I look at mine each day & silently thank God for giving us this great Man & His talent, who shares with us all the glorious music & the snippets about His Family, I know its mad but I often feel He is like a friend I have known all my life, do any of you other beautiful persons feel like this, I know the day I stood opposite Him In Blacktown & looked into His eyes He was not a stranger to me at all. there is a piece in Andre's Australian Adventures, where He is walking out of JB Hi Fi with his hands in His pockets, back on He reminds me of Charlie Chaplin & that walk He had; Have a great day ;

The Hook of Holland (Dutch: Hoek van Holland, Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦukfɑnˈɦɔlɑnt] - literally "Corner of Holland"), also known in English as the Hook, is a town in South Holland in the Netherlands. It is situated on the North Sea coast, on the north bank of the Nieuwe Waterweg ship canal. The town is administered by the municipality of Rotterdam as a district of that city. The district of Hoek van Holland covers an area of 16.7 km2 (of which 13.92 km2 is land)
Nearby towns include Monster, 's-Gravenzande, Naaldwijk and Delft to the northeast and Maassluis to the southeast. On the other side of the river is the Europoort and the Maasvlakte. The wide sandy beach, one section of which is designated for use by naturists, runs for approximately 18 kilometres to Scheveningen and for most of this distance is backed by extensive sand dunes through which there are foot and cycle paths.

About the broadcast of Andre on BVN it is 21.05 the evening (sometimes it is 1 or 2 hours later) not always - and I see a repeat on Tuesday 06/09 9.05 the morning. What a day! Tutoring educators in the morning and attending a Music Concert with some girl friends in the evening! Oh no, I don't know what André is doing to me. Whenever I attend a concert, I have to measure it against the standards set by André and his JSO. NOTHING CAN EVER COMPARE TO WHAT ANDRé IS DOING ON STAGE! What a MAN, what a PERFORMER!! And of course, what GOOD LOOKS!! Aye, I cannot wait for Maastricht next year. Well on our way back from the concert, we listened to beautiful André music, what a fine way to end a busy day!

Steve you are very knowledgeable about Holland. The story that impressed me at school was the one about how the little boy saved all Holland by putting his finger in the hole in the dyke. Have you all heard it? Many years later when I went to Holland I asked several people if they knew where the place was that the dyke had started to leak. Not one of them had heard the story! I was so disappointed.
Hi, yes know the story, but I think it's one of those fairy tale type, although not 100% certain! The Netherlands is certainly a lovely country and wonderful people.

Wish Andre would make dvds of these concerts, but as far as I know they are only shown on German tv, ZDF. A lot of the fabns tape them form the tv & make copies for their friends. The only Trier one I saw was back in 2004 & it was a New Year's Eve concert. There used to be a few snippits on you tube.

produces these DVDS? Here in the States we buy up all the DVDS/CD's/BOOK/ETC, than we are off to Amazon, E-Bay, Aussie sites, than off to England to make more purchases, not to mention 'we' buy everything on Andre's site. Hi All, Here in Colne Lancashire the August Bank Holiday holds a Rythme and Blues Festival this happen ever year, we get people from around the world. The main road is closed usually from mid day, many of the clubs and pubs have live performances, the top area of the park is used for people who come with tents and caravans.When I lived in the bungalow with Ricky we could see all the people going to from the camp site most appeared very plesant. Some of the residents are not happy as there can be trouble.

Hi everyone, well we got through the hurricane but didn't sleep most of the night. It rained and the wind was blowing so much it just kept me awake. Some trees are down but we had no damage. We have no power in our area and I doubt whether Hershey had power and that is where we go to church. So we are at Starbucks in the opposite direction to where we live. We have two power companies here and we are in the area where the power goes down if a squirrel moves so it is not too good. I have no idea what has happened to other parts of the state or in New Jersey or New York.
We cannot stay here all day so I am sure Prudence will take care of the comments until we get our power. THANKS PRUDENCE!
I am going to try and get a post on regarding the Cinema X showing of Andre's Maastricht concert in the USA. Of course Pennsylvania is not on the list and it will be during the month of September but do not know the dates. There is a theatre in Sebring, Florida which is on the list and that is one of the places we lived in Florida. Now we are going to Florida in September from the 18th to the 24th but the chances are slim but who knows. I can hope!!! Take care everyone! Lots of hugs

Fay I hadn't remembered the little boy and the dyke story was a school reader, but it makes sense as it's such a familiar story to our generation. I'm sad to think it's not true! I spent a lot of time thinking about that brave little boy when I was a child.
Thank you for your concern Jill. Lately one never knows what to expect with our weather. We were lucky this time, we dodged the bullet (as they say). Also on to Fay's story about the little boy who saved the day by putting his finger in the dyke to stop the flow of water, I too was saddened to find out it really wasn't true. But some of the stories out there that hold such lovely dear memories in our lives, is such a sad realization that it was only a story, but it was so nice to clear the cobwebs from minds of our happier times as children when things were so simple, uncomplicated, never stressful, just the happy, laughing, giggling, dreamlike state we use to love and visit. BUT, now we can do that all over again, thanks to "Andre Rieu", for bringing happy times back into our lives

Going back to the story of the little boy with his finger in the dike. As children we absolutely believed it was true. Like Father Christmas it's so disappointing when you grow up and find out the truth that there is no such person. There isn't ?????? Well I never. Who left all the beautiful Andre DVD's under the Christmas tree for me last year then?!!!!

I am glad to hear that our America friends are OK after the hurricane and hopefully all their cats & dogs also, because they are also part of our lives. I too dodged the bullet, although my sister, her mother-in-law and a niece in surrouonding towns have no power. At least one niece has no power still. Haven't checked with the others. I never lost mine. Cats were yowling at the door so I opened it to let them see that it was a lake in the back yard. Didn't stop them. Out they went. Didn't stay as long as usual though.
I am thankful that power is all you lost. Glad to see you back.
Oh Josephine, you little dickens, you are truly bold to put this little cutie on for all of us to drool over. WOW, I had not even heard of him in 1995 - what a tremendous loss on my part, as I imagine a great loss for many of this 'ole gang of ours'. I can hardly think what I had been really INTO back than? Not a day goes by without listening to, and or watching his Gorgeousness. How he has "impacted" our lives, and for the very "best". I am still working on my daughters (forget that), so I have moved onto my three grandchildren in hope of having enough time to plant that marvelous "Andre seed". I can only hope to succeed. One more comment, Manoe and everyone are so young, too sweet to comment further.

Hello everyone. I'm feeling a bit spaced out this morning - it's John and my 43rd wedding anniversary. It's a bit scary the way the years flash by.
So, Australia, England and America all know the story of the brave little boy who saved Holland. We should tell the Dutch - it seems they are the only ones who haven't grown up on the tale. Isn't that surprising? It must have been a story only written in English.

Clyde I did go to put a message on the birthdays to wish you a happy day but a little window told me I had already posted 1 message, we did think of you though, glad to know you Jeanine Ann & cats are safe & sound; Narelle had her moment of Fame laying a wreath on The Cenotaph,a very stirring moment & day, 2 very Young men who have been awarded a V.C.oh dear they looked too young to have gone through the horrors of war, one Himself was a legatee growing up I learnt also how Legacy started, during world war 1 a dying soldier asked his friend to take care of " my mrs. & kids," there began what is now a lifetime of service, quite emotional. a little like the above video, a nice young Andre' playing soooo beautifully as He always does, though he is a little too young & beautifull for me, I love Him as he is now, He is ageing perfectly in my heart & eyes; Re the boy with his finger in the hole of the dyke, I think we grew up with a lot of mythical stories & some grewsome ones, think On little red riding hood what a horrible tale; Have a Beautiful Andre' Day everyone, stay safe America we are thinking about you;Praying for you too;

So much hair on Andre', Teun, & a very young & Beautiful Manoe, & that is one of the most beautiful pieces of music, The Man with The Violin does it to me every time,enough to make a body fall in love, ha ha, He will soon be back from holidays I miss the little tweet that tells us what Himself is doing, I miss the news updates on His web site, but He & Marjorie will have had a good break, I am sure those granbabies will miss having so much of Him, lucky babes, oh I bet He enjoyed time spent with them, I am gratefull to Andre' that He shares a little with us; Narelle has gone swimming tonight to a spar & heated pool, she did'nt say goodbye to Jasper & he is walking around the house, really asking me where has she gone she did'nt tell me, he makes such a funny noise, & He will tell her off when she gets home; do your cats do that Jeanine Ann???

This year we followed him to Cape Town for his first concert and next year it will be at the Dome. A few of us on the blog are also going to Maastricht (2012) to see André

I am starving for anything Andre' that is new, we have'nt had a dvd since Mexico, or a cd, I felt there would be one of His concerts here earlier this year with The Seekers, but ???, I guess I am being selfish, last night I rewatched Romance its a while since I did, but jasper & I had a beautiful evening of beautiful music, I also keep looking for Andre's next concert here, patience is a virtue its said alas not one of mine, Jeanine Ann did you have any damage from those "windy days", how did your cats behave?? Jaspers ears flatten down on really windy days here, & when I open the door early morning if its been raining & the path is wet he won't go out but sits next to the heater whether is on or off, oh well he does live with nutty persons, we have a big blue tongue lizard in our patch of garden, Jazz eyes it off from the window yesterday jazz was inside at the screen door & the lizard was right outside the door almost taunting him I rather like lizards, they eat the snails; have a Rieully Beautifull Day all; XXX OOO MIOW
Hi Fay, yes I am anxious for something from Andre too. Cannot wait for the concerts in November but would like to see something a little sooner!! We had trees down in the area not near us but close enough to take our power out for 14 hours. Flooding was the problem for the people in New Jersey and the other North Eastern States. It is really a shame for all those people who were in the flooded areas. We don't know much about where the storm went since we did not have power but evidently it went through the New England states and that is where a lot of flooding was also. The cats were fine with the winds but they don't like thunder and they hid every time it would thunder. Strange huh? Hugs to Nelly and Jasper.

Oh Gracious no - I have not seen this lovely note that my very Elegant Sylvia had written until n-o-w. Color me not only the shade of blush but make that bright red with embarrassment. This is such a truly touching note from 'My Lady' Sylvia from London. I wanted to get my proper English friend something very special, like a one of a kind of 'thank you'. Worked out that my bidding war ended with excellent results and I so wanted to make Sylvia's day a very one-of a-kind 'special day' for such a very unbelievablely "genuine" wholehearted nicer than nice proper true blue friend from across the Pond. I feel badly that I just ran across this note today, but I feel tickled 'pink' that Sylvia enjoyed my parcel, I suggested she use it when dear Keith is working in the garden as she sits shading herself with the umbrella enjoying the day including all the cute
