Andre Rieu On Holiday Between Concerts

In between …

Holiday!

I'm actually having a few weeks’ vacation this summer. And must now try to get used to it. For me, this is a strange situation. I should almost take a course for it to know how you go on vacation.

Last year  I realized that I am not Eighteen anymore and had to listen to my body. I have agreed with Marjorie that we  must from now on take a summer vacation. We have agreed to a maximum of four weeks. Unusual.  Actually, in fact it seems to be normal, but I've never done it before, at least not for the last ten years or more. I had always been under such a lot of stress that I became accustomed to it, and I never needed a vacation before. At least I thought I didn’t.  I always very much liked what I was doing.

But nevertheless, it seems as if rest and relaxation are doing people well. I'm now trying to relax more. Although we will not go away for four weeks for a holiday. I am traveling almost the whole year round, visiting a beautiful city for a few days. I mostly like to visit the ones we still do not know and I find it beautiful. And for the rest of the time? I will not lay on the beach for weeks, because that would be too boring for me.  No, we can enjoy our time at home, and Marjorie and I will certainly deal with music in between. We will think up new ideas and drink a glass of wine here. The office is closed, but there will be phone calls and emails. I'm very curious to know what effect this will have on me.

It was a good year! I was fortunate to be able to work again and feel great. We are back from Vienna, where we have a superb special recorded for ZDF in the most beautiful places in the city. This will be broadcast in the fall on a Saturday night, 2.5 hours on prime time.  And after the summer, we still take on the Christmas special for ZDF. This time in the caves of Valkenburg.  We have already played there for the Queen and enjoyed it very much.  This special will air on Christmas Eve.

We have also recorded a CD for the first time with ballroom music. With glorious, nostalgic dance music. With songs like, “Dance with me in the morning”, "Blue Tango" and “Red are the roses”.

And then are the Vrijthof  Concerts at the door, which is always a highlight, as these concerts take place in my hometown. The atmosphere is always unique. This time we have, as a gesture to the Holy Cathedral Vaart,  two gospel choirs in the program. One from America and one from South Africa.  This is very nice.  Specifically for these concerts our Russian trio is back, that was with us on tour a few years ago. Yes, and then as a surprise, we interpret the waltz, written by Anthony Hopkins. This is really something special.  He personally came all the way from America to witness this on the Vrijthof.  If someone so special from Hollywood takes time to come to the Vrijthof,  then we should be very proud of the most beautiful place in the Netherlands.

I am so glad that Andre now realizes how important it is to take a break, & what better place than home where he hasn't been for awhile. He needs this time for recharing his batteries, renewing his spirit. even God rested on the 7th day.

Wow! You can come and relax in South Africa on a game farm! That is quite relaxing, did you know? Enjoy your relaxing time before you have a 'burn out' again. Your fans cannot afford this!

SHIRLEY, since you mentioned recharging batteries, I was thinking of how I have been recharging mine since March 30th when I first discovered Andre' and Andre Rieu Fans and Friends.

Eve I find your comment so true, likewise its the same for me, since we first found This Great Man & his Music i just can't get enough, I can only say his music gave Narelle so much relief when she was ill, & for me to just lose myself with Himself & His music what is it that Andre' has that others don't have, when he performs it seems to me its not them & us, its as if we all become one, do others feel this?
