André Rieu de MENS achter het FENOMEEN by GOVERT DE ROOS

A synopsis on: DE ICOON (THE ICON)

Govert De Roos photographed André Rieu in Mexico City on November, 26, 2010. He  later realised that this photo was an exact replica of the world famous photo of The Beatles on 8 September 1969. The photographer, Macmillan, had only ten minutes to take a photo of the Beatles. He photographed them crossing Abbey Road over a zebra crossing, near the EMI Studios in London. The traffic was stopped by a single policeman on this day and the photo became part of the history of the Beatles.1969 Abbey Road was the final Beatles album to be recorded but not the last to be released.

André Rieu was heavily guarded on the  dangerous streets of Mexico, with his son Pierre never leaving his side. Govert De Roos had only a few seconds to take this photo. The traffic was held back by a ticking robot. He describes the moment as: “Very tense, almost as if in a James Bond like sphere.” Once back in his hotel room he realised that the photo resembled the photo of Abbey Road. He stated that it was sheer coincidence, “But the symbolism is so beautiful.”

    HE is greater than The Beatles (though I love them)!

    ANDRE RIEU is THE ARTIST of the century, actually two centuries.
    I still feel he is not given enough acknowledgement. Not in many countries in eastern Europe, for example.

    Thank you, DEIRDRE!

      I agree with you Eve!

      I feel he is not given enough acknowledgement in America either.
      When you have something or someone as special as Andre Rieu and his music, you need to reward that once in a lifetime specialness (is that a word?)

      Now...if I had MY way!!!!

      I'm off to work, have a great day everyone.

    Eve I too agree there is really no publicity about Andre' I feel so many people are missing out on the JOY that we receive from listning to Himself & His Music, not everyone has the internet, some that do don't bother to go to the right web sites;
