Andre Rieu Returns To Wells Fargo Arena

It’s easy to dismiss Andre Rieu as a mere showman, a subsitute for the real thing, like Fabio or the McRib. But not so fast: Nobody plays Wells Fargo Arena — four times — without some serious talent.

The Dutch violinist with the long luxurious locks is a darling of public television and plays more than 120 concerts a year. Billboard ranked him the world’s sixth most profitable touring artist two years ago, behind U2, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC and Pink, but just above the likes of Britney Spears, Billy Joel, Elton John and Tina Turner. He sold 1.1 million tickets that year, grossing $95.9 million.

So go ahead, laugh at his hair. He can afford all the shampoo he wants.

As his fans can tell you, Rieu tours with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra and specializes in the grand Viennese waltzes that made Strauss famous. He encourages audiences to get up from their seats and waltz in the aisles, whether they’re in a concert hall or sports arena.

"If you have a great evening with an enthusiastic audience, it doesn’t matter where you perform," he told the Register before his last visit to Des Moines, two years ago.

DEIRDRE AND JEANINE ANN, THANK YOU for the articles and the photos!

ANDRE RIEU has been enchanting me since I first saw Him perform the 2nd waltz and ever since and every day I discover something new and magical about him, his music, his performance!

"Long luxurious locks", like I can't take my eyes off Him, first, because I don't want to and second, because it's impossible. And I want to take this picture with me, in my heart to wherever I go. His music is part of me, HE is part of me and my life!

What in the world are all you ladies looking at, when your eyes should be on all the beautiful female musicians in the orchestra.....

I think there are 3 main reasons for Andre's popularity:
    1. All the beautiful women in the orchestra
    2. The beautiful music the orchestra plays
    3. Andre

    in that order

      Hey BILL,

Ha-ha, only the men will appreciate your comment. The reason why André is so popular is because of:
      1) André
      2) André
      3) André
      4) André
      5) André ...

Should I go on!!! Bill, I like your sense of humor. If you liked André the way us ladies do, then something is seriously wrong with you. Hugs from South Africa

Bill, My photos are stuck in Windows photo gallery vs comcast photo gallery
and I don't know how to move them where I'm able to email. Windows email has never worked for me. The photos of Mirusia were great but Giedre not so good with me in them. Giedre is in the
photo special with the Popchuk twins on
this fan site. Also Iowa Public TV has
reception photos on Flickr which are
accessible but the link they sent me didn't work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/iowapublictelevision/sets/72157627706753684/
