Andre Rieu, De Artiest - Synopsis Govert De Roos Book
Synopsis of DE ARTIEST (The Artist) from de MENS achter het FENOMEEN by Govert De Roos
André Rieu is one of the world’s best selling artists and is always in the limelight. He is constantly followed by a camera, a photographer and fans.This makes for some interesting images. Before the start of a concert André always waits at the back of the concert hall and walks through the audience to the podium. He is always enthusiastically greeted by his audience. In each country the audience act differently and always end up in a standing ovation. While walking to the podium there is no distance separating him and the audience. In Mexico the audience overwhelmed André with their passion and enthusiasm. Govert De Roos took the photo of André walking through the audience with his orchestra. He said that he was concerned that the audience might damage the very expensive Stradivarius. But the Mexicans showed so much respect towards André and made way for him to pass. André Rieu thinks that the Mexican people loves him the most.

Govert De Roos has been a photographer for 40 years and knows how to make himself ‘invisible’ when taking photos. He always moves in the shadows and tries not to disturb the people. Most of the time he succeeds but with André it is difficult. André likes to tease him after a concert by telling him: “ You stood here and there.” This is unbelievable because André is standing in front of 10 000 people while conducting and playing the violin. His eyes miss nothing and he would time-and-again tell Govert De Roos, : “Next time you must walk later: then you will disturb the people in the front row less.” André Rieu is always in control and nothing ever escapes his watchful eyes.

Oh Josephine I hate to tell you this but I am an American and I LOVE HIM THE MOST. Now you will see everyone coming on saying I am from-------- and I love him the most. haha.
Now what we could say I am from (wherever) and I am his biggest fan!!
You know the Mexican and Spanish people are very emotional and they show it. Americans are quite reserved and that shows also. But there are individuals and in different States here in America who are more outgoing than others. When we saw Andre in Miami, Florida there were so many up front that we could hardly move and I was literally laying on the stage flowers. I got terrific photos but the people were so up!! We also got the bad flu three days later on our way to Tampa, Florida and missed the concert. The only up side of that is we were in the last row. haha But anyway then you go into the Northeast and Mid-West and they are quite reserved. So the people as a whole in America and a country like Germany are more reserved and the Mexican people as a whole are quite the opposite. I just loved the atmosphere of that concert but (and this is just my opinion) I thought that Andre felt a little overwhelmed and a little distant from the audience and maybe he felt somewhat not in control of the people. First of all he was just back from convalescence and probably a little nervous (maybe a lot nervous) and not speaking the language I just saw something in his eyes that I have not seen before and that was just a little distance. I could be wrong; does anyone else have an opinion on this? Just a feeling I got. Thanks everyone. Lots of love and hugs to all

Thank you, I wish we Americans would show him how much we love him. I feel as overwhelmed by Andre as the Mexicans do.I have the Mexican Fiesta and love the enthusiasm and love shown to Andre. He is very deserving of it and more from we in America. God Bless. LOVE

Hi Dorothy, where in the USA do you live? I did enjoy all that enthusiasm too. When we were in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. during the encore I was up there waving and singing along and all of a sudden I looked around and I was the only one up there except for Clyde who was a little further back. These people would not move, not even one. So I continued and took photos. Hugs to you!

Ha-ha GIRLS,
Haven't you notice.Whenever André has a concert in a country/state he will always say that he loves them more and that the audience was the best! Ha-ha, he told me in Cape Town that he definitely loves South Africa the most and that he could see and feel that I loved him the most and that I was his biggest fan! SORRY GIRLS!!!
Sweet JEANINE ANN,
You are right. André was a little uncomfortable during his first concert in Mexico. He was also a bit nervous because it was his first concert after his illness. In the next synopsis you will be able to read more about the first concert in Mexico. I just loved reading it. The JSO just loved the Mexicans and they were even more 'busy' as usual on stage than in any other country. Hugs and love xxx

THANK YOU DEIRDRE' & JEANINE ANN, I agree with you, re The Mexican concert I too think at the beginning Andre seemed a little nervous, but is'nt that a true sign of the perfectionist that He is, I don't know if we can say who loves Him the most I know my feelings for this beautiful Man, Let us all love & pray that He is around for a long time, life without, well no don't go there;

The exuberance and love for life of the Mexican people is very infectious, especially when you're there. It's a long time now since I've been to Mexico but I fell in love with it within minutes of arrival, such a noisy, colourful place, and the people so cheerful and friendly. It's hard not to get caught up in the enthusiasm for life. I'm sure Andre would have had a wonderful time when there.

To the most wonderful man which I have not actually met up close and personal, but oh my word what a feeling transpires throughout your entire body once you have contracted/contacted that infectious Rieu happiness of love malady, better yet melody of love. Another sleepless night - but what a night

Mary, I agree with you about our South Africans being warm and friendly and I know Andre felt it at the Durban concert here - I am sure we are ALL No 1 fans of his, both here in RSA and all the other countries he performs in - we are blessed that he can still do these tours after his debilitating illness and long may he continue!
