San Antonio, TX; 18 Oct 2011; Concert Report
The following is an email from Terry describing her André Rieu concert experience a couple of evenings ago, in San Antonio, TX:

=============================================================
On Oct 18 in San Antonio, André gave a concert 100% better than in Dec 2010 in Orlando .
It had a lot more entertainement, singers, props. It was just wonderful.
He had Roland LaFosse with his anvil, Carla Maffioletti as the wooden doll, she was outstanding as usual, a lot of peppy music and champagne drinking and lots of snow where my friends were seating on the 17th row center, It was hilarious, even André was laughing as it seems the same people were getting hte snow...LOL I was on the 7th row center. no snow but I was in heaven......the crowd responded very warmly to everything, standing up almost for each piece of music. a lot of difference than Orlando, where people didn't react, but his concert was a lot different, al least that is what I felt.
In all it was a wonderful evening, if he comes back in a yr or two in San Antonio, I will go back to see him.. but I doubt it as it wasn't a sold out concert like in Mexico City.
I am going to buy 'Love around the world' and ' On the way to New York'.... I love to watch the behind the scene, sometimes, even more interesting than the concert itself.
To my right is a Dr Meza neonatologist to my left Beverly David a RN who did the choreography for the dance.
I am close to the end of the video.

I rwwote my report from the bottom of my heart,I wish the whole world felt like I do, love soothing , happy and classy music, just like André and his orchestra. His violin speaks the language of love for music.I can feel every note.I only wish I had been exposed to André's wonderful music years ago.

Thank you Jeannine for your kind words. André and his orchestra are my company every nite. I don't get tired of listening to this kind of music, my father who was a violonist taught me the love of it and was my Viennese waltz partner where I was born and raised in France. My country now is America for the past 53 years,my home is in Texas.
I am a dance addict and addicted to André's violin and his orchestra. He puts joy and happiness in my heart every day. Thank you for the congratulations on being a breast cancer survivor, God blessed me all those years and hope to be in remission for the rest of my life. Love and hugs.

Hi Terry, it is good to hear from you again. Was your father a professional violinist or did he play for his own enjoyment? Did you learn to play or do you just enjoy the beautiful music? I love dancing but my husband is not a dancer so I don't get to dance much although we do try to dance at all of Andre's concerts. We took some lessons for a while but since he had a bone removed from his foot it is hard for him to walk let alone dance. But we get up there just to please Andre because I know he loves to see fans respond to his music. I too wish I would have known Andre long ago. I first saw him in 2005 and have been hooked ever since.
My sister is now a cancer survivor so I am hoping she and you will remain that way for the rest of your lives. It is a horrible disease. Thank you again for your report and please keep coming back and talking with us. Love and hugs to you.

Hello Jeanine....So sorry it took me so long to answer your nice note.We had my husband's 2 sisters visiting, They are MY sisters too, We have a wonderful time together.
For my dad, no, he wasn't a professional violonist, he played for the love of music, he was 42 when I was born and heard a lot of stories from him and my mom, he played during the silent movies, then started to teach solfège, violon and piano as a second job that was more of a pleasure than work.He had a small orchestra of about 15 musicians who gave a concert every Sunday afternoon, I recall, my mom and I going with other musicians's family on a bus to listen to the concert in all the towns around my hometown. My dad played the same kind of music André plays, he was a wonderful dancer and took me to my first ball on my 16th Birthday, I was so proud to have him for my partner. He taught me to read music, piano and violin, but I gave it up when I was 15... I always regreted not keeping playing, but I feel like learning from your father is like learning to drive from your husband....LOL.But the love of music my daddy taught me will last forever. If André played the trumpet ot sax I wouldn't have listened to his music, but the voice of his Stradivarius made me fall in love with the music that comes from that wonderful instrument.
I was introduced to André's music about 5 yrs ago, I will never get tired of it as it reminds me of my dear dad, I close my eyes to the Blue Danube and see my dad playing or dancing with me.
Now, I discovered Big Band in the Rio Grande Valley, and I sing with them, old songs, french and english, I love it.My older sister was a wonderful singer with a beautiful voice but not quite like Carla. I would rather dance than anything else,as I taught Ballroom dancing in 1960 at the Arthur Murray Studios. My husband like yours doesn't dance, he loves country western music.
This is my musical life story. I hope I didn't bore you too much with such a long mail.Thank you for listening to me. You are a most gracious lady and hope to keep in touch with you. I am thankful to Bill for teaching me how to learn to know each musician with their pictures etc....At the concert I feel I know all of them and feel close to their part in the orchestra, I am partial to Roland lafosse being from France...LOL Well,I better stop now or you never will read another mail of mine because of it's lenght.
Tell your sister if she had breast cancer, it makes us "Bossom Buddies".
Give her my love.
Love and hugs to you thank you for being a friend and a fan of André and his orchestra.

it was a great concert, I wish Mirusia would have done a solo but all in all the concert was grand, my 6 mo old and 4 yr old grandsons were in awe.The 4 yr old is an Andie fan already and hasn't quit talking about going to "the Music" We were the rowdy crowd hollering Sugabe (encore). I didn't see much advertizing for this concert which I think is why it wasn't sold out. If he comes anywhere close to San Antonio again we will be there. Dancing and hollering Sugabe
My sister is not a survivor yet,But she will be!!!!
