André Rieu Christmas Special on Christmas Eve during prime time on ZDF

For the fans of Andre Rieu Christmas began on a high note. On Christmas Eve the German public broadcaster ZDF (prime time 20.15) will broadcast the Christmas Special that was recorded during the fall in Maastricht. The TV show: “Christmas At Home”, is guaranteed to be viewed by a million viewers in Germany.
The Christmas Special was mainly recorded at André Rieu’s home . The castle was transformed into a winter palace on several occasions, and will be one of the best musical exports from the Netherlands. An interesting fact: this was recorded on an autumn day with subtropical temperatures. The camera crew was also very active in the city center, at St.Peter’s Church.
No effort was spared during this Indian summer in Maastricht to give a wintery atmosphere to the castle. Large snow cannons used in movies were used to cover the green gardens with a thick layer of snow so that it wouldn’t melt in the sun. Andre Rieu: "A little Hollywood in Maastricht for this special. Beside the snow cannons, the producers also used 3D animation and real film cameras to create the best Christmas atmosphere. We decided in May to make a Christmas special, but could not wait until the first snow falls, because then it would have been too late. Marjorie and I thought about the TV special the whole summer. We were very satisfied with the end results. Hopefully the viewers too. The viewers will enjoy the great soloists as well as the Mastreechter Staar and the Sjamaes children’s choir, a touch of Maastricht. But there's more. Surprises that I will not reveal. The message I want to give is clear: This is how I celebrate Christmas at home. "

HI EVERY ONE, just a short comment: we found the article but it was DEIRDRE to do the translation, she understands Dutch, I tried to help, like sentence structure, synonyms etc.
Now I'm going to Hungarian newspapers, they should be coming with articles and info about Andre, he is going to have a concert in the capital city in May.
Hopefully I can come up with something if not, I will have to wait till May!

It does not really matter who did the translation, it is more about sharing! We did have fun on SKYPE between all the Ooooohhhh's and Aaaahhhh's, didn't we! Hi Terry, Yes I believe you. I don't think a day goes by that we are not listening to André! We all love him dearly and his music is just beautiful. Silvester Punsch is also one of my favorites. Wow how beautiful this excerpt was.Govert I loved it when you filmed the false Stradivarius with Pierre and that enormous tank. Cracking Concert! mind you some of the people in the audience all wrapped up for a cold winter's night, did look rather... 'hot' LOL

Hi Steve,
I was interested that you could watch this programme in the UK. I too have satellite (well, Sky anyway), but I wasn't aware that I could pick up German or Dutch tv! How did you do it? And would you know whether same could be achieved with Virgin Media? I'd appreciate any tips, as we miss so much of Andre's European programmes in the UK!!!
