André Rieu Concert Dates in Vrijthof still unknown because of his popularity in Brazil

This year, the fans of André Rieu can once again enjoy his traditional performances at the Vrijthof square. The exact dates must however still be confirmed.
The concert tickets for Maastricht will go on sale this Friday. Because of the mega sales of concert tickets in Sao Paulo, the concert dates for Maastricht are still uncertain.
Despite the fact that the Maastricht dates for this year are still unknown, the ticket sales will start on Friday according to a spokesperson for the community. Rieu and Mayor Onno Hoes will collectively provide an explanation on Friday.
Tickets for the annual concert of André Rieu in Vrijthof were already ‘on sale’ on various Internet ticket shops. The VVV even offered their site maps for sale. At least it was written: "In 2012 André Rieu once again organizes Vrijthof concerts in his hometown. Book your group package for this spectacle!" When asked when the tickets can be ordered, especially the dates, the answer still remains uncertain. André Rieu Productions, the municipality of Maastricht and Maastricht Tourist and Catering businesses in Vrijthof could not even provide an answer. André Rieu wants to play in Brazil as long as possible. The concert tickets in May and June this year are selling like hot cake. Twelve concerts in Sao Paulo were sold out in no time. Sources of Maastricht Aktueel report that Rio de Janeiro also beckons. How about a concert for the citizen of Maastricht on one of the world’s most famous beaches: Copa Cobana. André Rieu has been hot news in the land of samba and the world famous violinist can greatly benefit from the concerts next spring to early summer.
It seems as if André Rieu will give his last concert in Sao Paulo on June 10 this year. Should the series be extended, the starting date of July 6 - that is the date printed in the events of Maastricht – will perhaps come under pressure. Even on Tuesday André Rieu Productions and the municipality of Maastricht still had no clarity on the concert dates in Maastricht. The agenda on the website of André Rieu regarding the concerts in the Netherlands are still completely blank. It was confirmed on Tuesday that André Rieu will once again hold his series of concerts in Vrijthof in his hometown, Maastricht. The concert dates are still uncertain. On Friday André Rieu and Onno Hoes will provide further details on the upcoming concerts.
Normally the concert dates for the following year are immediately announced after the last Vrijthof concert. This time it was not the case and resulted in hundreds of phone calls from anxious André Rieu fans. Rieu is aware of this and on Tuesday he had a conversation with all the hotel businesses in Maastricht.
It is a fact that André will once again perform in the most beautiful square in the Netherlands. The number of concerts is still uncertain.

Thanks Dierdre for the translation. Hmmm, still got to wait til tomorrow for dates then. Well, even if I'm unlucky to get concert tickets, I still want to go to Maastricht for 'concert week'. Can anybody please advise me the best route to take, from the UK, by boat? Would it be Felixtowe to Ostend, then train? Yay Dierdre, I share your love of the gooey brown stuff, especially dipped in HOT chocolate drinks, but unfortunately I don't have your confidence for adventure and prefer not to fly if poss. (Although of course I would do ANYTHING to see Andre, even get in a plane, ha!).
I bet none of us will sleep well tonight?!!!

Hi Linda. If you would like to travel with myself and Brenda to Maastricht we will almost certainly take the train from London. Last year I flew to Brusells and then took the train to Maastricht. Brenda went the whole way by train. No probs my friend. We can arrange nearer the time. More important to get Concert tickets and Hotel booking first. Roll on Friday 13th !!!!! Lotsaluv xxxx

Felixstowe is Freight only, you could hide in a Container, but the Ferry (Stena) goes from Harwich, Day Boat about 0900 and night boat about 2300.
Train to Harwich International from wherever you are coming from.
Plus the big news is that the concerts may well be in JUNE ! but no sign of tickets yet, and the Council have yet to agree to June.
