You've WON, your choice of 1 Male & 1 Female musician

During André & the JSO's down time, LET'S PRETEND.

Let's pretend you've won a contest & as  the winner of André's contest you now get to 2 hours of time with your favorite Male & Female musician, on an activity of your choice.

In your reply, please give us the names of  3 Male musicians & 3 Female musicians -  then make your FINAL selection from your short list & tell us WHY?

Keep in mind your choice must be musicians who are in the Orchestra NOW, not Guest Performers, Soprano Soloists, or musicians no longer in the orchestra.

And finally, WHAT kind of activity would you plan knowing you will have 2 hours time with your FAVORITE Male & Female musician?

The activity I would choose would be something outdoor, away from the hotel.  I would like to lead them up & down some trails & rock formations in & around Phoenix.  They would be standing, walking, hiking & taking photos during the 2 hours I am showing them plants, rocks, rattlesnakes, scorpions & any other desert creature that puts in an appearance.  They would definitely want to be wearing sunglasses, sun screen, & hiking boots.  They will also have to carry their own camera equipment, water, & any food they wish to bring along - Dutch treat, unless they want to eat what they see crawling.

I would make an effort to create an adventure they will remember.  I would attempt to talk about PHOTOGRAPHY, actually almost any subject EXCEPT music.  Their 2 hours with me would be MUSIC FREE & devoid of PERSONAL QUESTIONS.

My short list of MALE musicians is: Cord Meyer (Violin), Arthur Cordewene r (Oboe), & Ruud Merx (Trombone) --- & my final choice is RUUD , on the strength of his entertaining skills, musicial ability, & COMPOSING & arranging music.  Ruud composed some music for Melissa Venema (Guest Trumpet) which she plays on one of her CD’s.  RUUD is the male musician I’d most like to match wits with in the game of OneUpManship.

My short list of FEMALE musicians is: Agnes Fizzano-Walter (Violin); Margriet van Lexmond (Cello); & Manoe Konings (multiple instruments) -- & my final choice is MANOE, on the strength of her versatility with a variety of musical instruments, her ability to blend her voice with others in duets & trios.  MANOE is the female musician I’d most like to match wits with in the game of OneUPManship.

Philip,  one of the things I'd stick in my pocket before embarking on our little outdoor adventure, would be the rattle I have from a rattlesnake.  At an appropriate time, I'd pull it out, start shaking it to make it rattle, & then take some photos of the musicians reactions when I warn them to "Do not move, until you see the rattlesnake, so you can go in the other direction".  I would hope it would temporarily scare the wits out of Manoe & Ruud .  Then I'd show them the rattle in my hand & enjoy their reaction, verbiage & laughter.  That would definitely give them something to remember the adventure by.

Remember, I'm going for a win-win in the game of OneUpManship, against Manoe & Ruud

The idea behind my activity would be to give Manoe & Ruud a 2 hour mini vacation away from music

2 hours may be a long time but it will be a short time when talking and listening music. I would love to talk about music in general, the great performers, singers, not only on the symphonic music world but the whole music universe.

3 male musicians: René Henket, Marcel Falize, Glenn Falize
3 female musicians: Manoe Konings, Stéphanie Detry, Anne-Lise Parotte
1 male: René Henket because he is an extraordinary musician in his trumpet.
1 female: Manoe Konings , no doubt the JOY of the group.

Teun Ramaekers (flute) He gives me goosebumps when he plays and I am sure that wherever he plays, the people will follow him like The Pied Piper.
    *
Frank Steijns (violin and carillon)I will invite him to play the bells in the Cape Town City Hall near the Grand Parade where Nelson Mandela addressed the nation after his release. I am sure Madiba would love it!

Roger Diederen (trumpet) He has a soft spot in my heart since he posed with me for a photo after our Cape Town concert and he plays the trumpet beautifully!

    FAMALE musicians:

2 hours is a very short time to spend with beautiful people,my choice of female musicians are
Stéphanie Detry, Nadia Diakoff, Karin Hinze , all you need is a piano, a viola, and a cello to make beautiful music

    Male musicians:
    Ton (Jets husband),  Roland, Noël
I would choose Noël for a two hour tank up because we both have a wicked sense of humor, and after a 2 hour tank up the jokes would be flying, after all laughter is the best medicine.

I would take Stéphanie to the top of table mountain with a piano on hand, I would have packed a picnic basket with her favorite foods and drink, and would ask her to perhaps sing, or play "my fathers favorite"and let the south eastern wind blow the beautiful sounds of her piano across Cape town.  Stephanie and her piano played a very big part in me recovering from a bout of depression. (I am not going to discuss this)so I CANNOT SEPARATE STÉPHANIE FROM MUSIC that is why I call her my heartbeat

On this was so difficult Bill.
    And only 2 hours

    MALE CHOICE
    FRANCO Double bass
    TEUN Flute
    MARCEL Percussion

    FEMALE
    MANOE Everything under the sun
    SANNE Saxophone
    STEPHANIE Piano

    TOP MALE:     FRANCO

    TOP FEMALE       MANOE

If I could have the company of all six I would love them to perform a private concert for myself and my closest friends. We would all dress for the occasion to match the JSO and dance to their beautiful music

MANOE only. I would love to have her in my home for tea. Just to talk to her. Listen to her. I would like her to be a friend as I think she would be a very true and loyal friend.

FRANCO . He was the one at the Maastricht Concert 2011 who smiled at us and acknowledged us. He has an interest in Tarot Cards as do I. I would love him to do a tarot reading for me and then I would return the compliment. (And I love his hair)

Josephine,  wasn't meant to be easy.  We all have several musicians that we like for a variety of reasons.  Making a choice of 1 Male & 1 Female, was very difficult for me,  I had to really sit down & think it out before I could come up with my final selections.

Any & all replies will come from others that have an equally difficult time & they, too, will be sitting down, to think out their final selections; which is what makes this an interesting & thought provoking topic, don't you agree?

As difficult as it may be, I'm really hoping EVERYONE on this blog will devote some time & sort through their thought processes, & add their reply to this topic.  This is grrrreat way to let the musicians know which ones you like, & WHY  -- & I guarantee you,   the musicians are looking in on this topic to see if THEIR name is mentioned.

All the musicians work very hard at trying to blend their talent  into to orchestra music.   Please honor the musicians of your choice that you notice, or that have had an impact on your life - by mentioning their names.

Hey Bill, if we are going to have this big getaway with all the musicians we are going to need a Conductor - I will bring Andre!!!!!!!

Okay now that I got that in -

My favorites sort of match Deirdre's choices

        Male -
Roger because he plays that trumpet so beautifully

Frank because he took so much time to talk about violins with me at the M&G

Teun because he always gets the flowers from Andre

        Female -
Tanya because she is always smiling and having a good time

Kremi because she too smiles so sweet and has the cutest dimples

Kalki (Choir) because I met her and she was so down to earth

Then for the two hours I would leave everyone and take Andre on a picnic!!
Bill, you knew this was coming.

It could have been fun to be part of this, but since there is no message on my PC with this, then I could not keep up.
I can not figure out how it works, because sometimes I get a mail and other times not .... hmmmm, what am I doing wrong. ??
I do not know the names of the wonderful musicians, but the girl in the blue dress (Moderator Note: The musician is Manoe) that can both sing and play the bagpipes, I love that she is a musical genius. Then there's the guy with the trumpet. Do not know what he says but I have never heard a more pure trumpet. He is clever.
I wish you enjoy and hope that I can learn to use this blog
You are all just so lovely and I would be sad if I mess around too much in this.
    Take care of you
Hugs and kisses to you from me.

Oh, where is the sweet. Thank you for your help. Finally, I found this thread again and I have now figured it out with your help, so thank you dear friends. The female musician whom I admire a lot is Manøe Konings . Never before have I seen so much talent on several instruments and a good singing voice. Then I would choose Tanja Derwahl (cello) It is a joy to see what emotions she puts into the music. I am deeply touched by looking at her.
Of male musicians would I choose Roger Diederen (it was his name) An incredibly talented trumpet player. Then there is Frank Steijns as his skill is very inspiring.
I would invite all the wonderful musician on Hamlet's castle Kronborg, but because the floors are so big I will have to invite everyone's "Prince of Wals" and will then dance to the music from the wonderful musicians.
For everything to be perfect, I would invite all of you wonderful friends from the blog so we could all dance the largest fællels Wals and then eating in the great king floor. But should not we just invite them all? ..... I did not think we can afford to lose anyone from JSO or soloists ...... Ha ha what a party, so I may have used my dress ... .
      Dreams are wonderful.
Hugs and kisses to you all

    I find it rather hard to choose I do think Stephanie & Manoe & the lady who plays the drums Miurelle I think her name is, the males no 1 would have to be Tuen , Rene , The guy on the base, Roland ,  who is sometimes playing the anvil. I like all the singers but especially Mirusia , & Carmen , but most of a;; there is 1 guy I really care for who does so much can you guess who that is His name of course is Andre' Rieu , without Him alas it would just be a nice concert;

only 2? That is not enough. There are several who I like although Andre has the very best, including the choir ladies Judith, Ann, Kalki, Virgenie, Karin & Nicolle . Several certain musicians do catch my eye though & I do like very much. In no particular order, there has to be Ward with his playing of Whiter Shade of Pale, that was fantastic, then there is Frank , with his sweet smile, I'd just like to pinch his cheeks, & his talent on the carrillons is outstanding!, then there's Marcel , with his flirty little wink & smile, then Tanya , love it when she & André do their little fake kiss. Love too the harpist when she gets a little crazy, love Tuen when he gets a little jazzy too.love the antics of Roland & Noël & their strengh test. Love Manoe as one of the André sisters & her talent on the bagpipes is amazing. All in all, they are all multitalened in many ways & very loyal to their boss. He expects the best & he gets it. I can't pick just a few & 2 hrs is too much for me, just a few words to each to let them know how much I admire them all. There, that's my thoughts on the matter, ok?

Manoe because she is a very cheery person.
Stephanie - I like the way she play the paino
Carmen Monarcha is my favorite because she has an incredible voice and sings with so much passion.

If I could spend two hours with them I would like to take them to a game farm where they can see the white lions, go for a game drive on an open vehicle to get near to the lions and I will take them to go on an Elephant ride (themselves on an elephant).
