Andre Rieu Still Suffers From Dizziness

André Rieu, as a year ago, is once again suffering from balance disorders and dizziness. Rieu will at the earliest be back on stage again next week. Cancelled concerts will be rebooked and tickets remain valid. Reports his son Pierre on Friday at the AD.

However, the infection of the Limburg king of the waltz is not exactly the same as a year ago when Rieu had to rest for two months. Pierre: “The question immediately arose whether it is the same problem he experienced in his balance organs in 2010. This is not quite the same. Even though it is a viral infection, it is not in André’s equilibrium organs. However, it has become a weak spot in his body. If he is sick, he can get in trouble again.”

Thank you Norma and Pierre about Andre's condition. I am truly sorry to hear he is having similar problems of the room spinning. For what it is worth, when I experienced vertigo, I had to stay in bed for a week and took antivert prescribed by my doctor. I have had a few spells after that, but since the second spell, thank God no more. I keep Andre in my prayers always. I feel as though a loved one of my family isn't well, when I hear about Andre. God Bless him. And thank you for the info. LOVE

Thank you sweet Norma for this post although it is not what I wanted to hear. I have been worried about this since last year. I still feel Andre is doing too much and yet we are all just dying to see him again and again. He tries so hard to please all his fans and we can never get enough. Hello Jeanine Ann, just a thought,is it perhaps possible that Andre is picking up
these bugs that are making him ill, in overseas countries, I cannot understand that for years Andre was well and never ill and 1 year ago he is flat on his back, and every year since then,he goes down with some thing or other, what a terrible thing to happen to him, he was so proud of his and the orchestra's health.

Hi Philip, I am not really sure. He has only added countries like Australia and South Africa to his schedule. I think the problem is probably two-fold, Andre is getting older (not old but older) and as this happens he does not adjust his schedule with that in mind. In fact I think he is adding more and more countries and concerts, Brazil for example look at all the concerts he is adding and then after Maastricht going back to Brazil. Andre is a very hard working man and is into every phase of what is required to put a concert together. If one has a job which is not as demanding as Andre's you can get away with it for a longer period of time but as you age your body will not take as much and you should not push yourself to the point where the body says that's it! The amount of work which Andre does is mind boggling. I don't think it is the areas in which he plays I think it is the amount of work he puts into what he does. Of course he can pick up a virus in any country. I noticed when we had the Swine Flu in America you did not see Andre doing any hi fives. So less contact with the fans can help him. Dear Andre I have just recovered from identical infections.The ear infection was the last to clear,six weeks, you must put yourself first. You will be fine just take the time needed to recover. The Rieu world family love you and want you well.

It has been said that Pierre did not say waht he said!..
But it may well be associated, we all know that the flu can affect the sinus area, and of course ears and balance are all interconnected, I don't think Pierre would have told a 'Porky' do you? it may not be as bad as the last viral infection, but enough to lay him low, of course we all wish him well, and a speedy recovery, maybe, he should restrict some of the touring over the next 12 months to just Europe, and then only say Wednesday through to Saturday, then rest, I know this idea does / would not help those International fans, but in the long run it may work out for the best? mind you even that would be very tiring!

This is a terrible time for Andre if he is suffering with that same demon. I myself just had a procedure called a 'Videonystagmography' and it was sheer hell for me. They are trying to determine what has set off my set of on going problems. I would not wish this problem to my worst enemy.

Oh my dear Judith, I feel so sorry for you. I just read up on this test and it sounds awful. I am thinking that maybe Andre may have had to go through this test to determine the cause of his dizziness. I don't know what your symptoms are Judith but I certainly hope that the test did not show anything serious. I am praying for you every day as I always do. Andre & Fans, and little tip For dizziness from my late mother Helen, When i was young i suffered from an ear complaint for many years, including dizziness, And this is what Helen use to make me do. She would get cooking salt, warm it up in the oven then place it in a cotton cloth back and place the bag on your ear and lay on it, you will fall asleep, and the salt draws out the infection, do that for about 3 nights and you will feel you are getting back on you feet again.
