Synopsis Andre Rieu de Mens achter het Fenomeen

ANDRé RIEU de MENS achter het FENOMEEN by GOVERT DE ROOS
A synopses on DE PERFECTIONIST (The Perfectionist)

(p 25)
Govert De Roos is a perfectionist photographer, but compared to André Rieu he seems less than a perfect. Before his Australian Concert, André organized the guest appearance of the famous Australian band The Seekers. They have been in the industry for more than 50 years and had not been singing for quite a while. André wanted them to sing one more time and did not go to Australia for the rehearsals. He invited them to the Netherlands instead. He planned everything down to the smallest detail. Not only the items but also how they enter and exit the stage. André will observe everything from a distance until he is satisfied: “It is beautiful.” Only then all is well.

(p 26)
Then there is perfection in the superlative form. Govert De Roos couldn’t believe his eyes when he departed from Mexico and arrived in Phoenix in the United States. Three identical buses were waiting for them. The three Rieu buses had not been in use for eleven months. André always wants the members of the orchestra to feel at home. They are his family. That is something you would normally do for your children. The detail on the buses made Govert De Roos smile.RIEU 1, RIEU 2 and RIEU 3. Everything has to be perfect. Even the number plates.

(p 31)
During rehearsals nothing is left to chance. André trusts his personnel because they too are perfectionists. But in the end André relies on himself. He controls everything. He does the sound check and makes sure that each sound, light ... balance. Not even the smallest detail escapes his eyes and he makes sure that everything is in top gear.Everything we see and experience during a concert was meticulously planned. André does not do everything himself. His wife Marjorie, also plays a major role and is sort of the ‘chef-cook’ that makes a meal from all the concert-ingredients.

(P32
Once all the preparation has been done, there is still one thing left to do. Practice, practice, practice. Not one second is wasted. The orchestra plays with total commitment. When Govert De Roos asked Vincenco Viola, first violinist, why he practiced even in his free time, he answered: “Because I want to play as well as André.” The orchestra plays with a driven passion – near fanaticism – trying to be the best they can be.

(p 34)
Govert De Roos soon realized that the orchestra not only practiced to improve themselves. They practice because it is their life. Cellist Tanja Derwahl and Margriet van Lexmond are both perfectionists and are playing their instruments with so much pleasure. While the concert halls fill up with people, each member of the orchestra is busy with a final round of practice. Silence before the storm? Not a chance!

    Dear darling Deirdré
Thank you for the translation and pictures. It is just too wonderful for words to see our BELOVED ANDRE back in action again. Yes I agree with you, everything in Andre's eyes has to be perfection even down to their dresses and suits - don't Mirusia and the soloists look stunning when they perform as well as the Platin Tenors and the Berlin Harmonists . But then that is our dear Andre wanting to please his fans. He is absolutely fantastic - I mean to see that absolute perfection in ALL ASPECTS AND DEPARTMENTS of his concerts takes place takes some doing. He takes responsibility for everything. This is no small feat and I very often feel he is doing too much. And as for air travel, all those nasty bugs in the aircrafts can not too healthy either.

Anyway my sweetheart I have blabbed my heart out but I am just so so pleased to have Andre back with us again.

Chat again soon. Love and hugs
    Louise - Cape Town
