Andre Rieu Canceled Concerts Are Rescheduled

André Rieu once again cancels
concerts - Dagblad De Limburger, 23 February
2012
André Rieu would have been back on stage tonight in Stuttgart after weeks of absence, but once again canceled his concert at the last minute. All concerts were canceled for the rest of February and are reported to resume early March.
Rieu will
resume his tour on Tuesday, March
6, in France. "He should listen to his body. Currently André is feeling well enough," says Kerstin Cornelis, spokeswoman for the
violinist.
All seventeen canceled concerts were moved to later this year. Cornelis did not say anything about the huge financial implications.
She stressed that it has nothing to do with a viral infection in his labyrinth, as was the case in 2010.
André is recovering well, according to Cornelis. "It's not that he is lying in bed all day. He is rehearsing again and resumed his daily life. But he is taking it slow of course."

Thank you so much Jeanine and Deidre for the health news concerning Andre. I think his body is telling him to slow down a little. He is like Superman, doing it all. We fans love him and want him healthy and well for so many years to come. As he had said in an interview until 125 years. I will say Amen to that and Glory Hallelujah. LOVE and GOD Bless him.

I'm happy that Andre is able to continue rehearsing in spite of being unable to do the concerts. I can only guess at what has been keeping him away from his fans. I only wish that Andre will return healthy and happy very soon, I'm sure he's as anxious as we all are to come back.
I have to assume that he's under the care of a doctor who knows when he is well enough to return, and I'm assuming that Andre is waiting to get that "go ahead" from his doctor.
Actually, I'm very happy that Andre is not forcing himself back too soon, even though it's lost finances at this moment, being healthy is more important. It wouldn't be any good at all of he came back too soon, and then had to leave again only because he jumped the gun.
I'm very concerned, but also know that everyone concerned with Andre's health, including himself, will do the right thing at the right time...and then we'll have our Andre back and bringing us his beautiful music to fill our lives with. Until we have him back, I am sending him my prayers and the MOST positive thoughts!

You are SO right Marlene - positive thoughts! There are so many complaints by fans on other sites about people having been inconvenienced, loss of money, bad PR by the AR production team etc. etc. All negative stuff!
Really, I don't think anyone really knows what exactly goes on behind the scenes - I suspect that ultimately, now, he's recovering from exhaustion - he has had to cop a lot of stress from his so-called "beloved" (gathering from the very acid comments on other fan sites.)
Forgive me if I vent a little anger on here, about the lack of understanding, for a situation that not only Andre himself, but his whole organization is not used to.
And the LAST thing he needs, is the criticism on the other sites. I cannot believe the arrogance of those who partake in this "debate"! The only concern should be for his health - without that there is NOTHING - what's not to understand about this? *...... shaking my head in disbelief .......*
Now there, I feel a lot better already - Kudos to you Marlene, and I love the POSITIVE posts and comments coming from this blog.
Love to all all!

Oh Bill I have a smile on my face most of the time after Saturday, and a good chuckle every now and again.
Of course you must know that when we (Tom and myself) are with Ronel and her Ludwig, we laugh so much, just can't help it. When I gave them a CD once of Movie themes by violnist Itzak Perlman, I wanted Ludwig to please, at once, play the theme from: Once upon a time in the West - in stead, the words that came out were: Ludwig you must put "Once a time upon in the West" - it did not sound incorrect when I said it, so couldn't understand why they were laughing at me. !!!
Needless to say, this causes much mirth every time we get together! And we play Once a time upon in the West every time we get together:O
And now we have DEIRDRE!!! - well, you may call us the 3 Musketeers! And BABBLING is only word to describe what went on last Saturday.
SO, I shall telephone Andre tonight Bill, that you kindly requested that he take care of his body - will let you know what he says
MY LOVE TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE!
AND THANKS BILL! XXX

I was due to fly to Dusseldorf from Glasgow to see Andre Rieu.
I have been looking forward to this for some time and extremely disappointed at the cancellation in Dusseldorf. I do not think I can take the risk of booking a show again in Europe.

Hi Diane, I know how disappointed you must be but I feel sure that if you still want to see an Andre Rieu concert you could see him in Dusseldorf on October 2nd. All the concerts in Germany have been rescheduled. Please do not give up because he is worth waiting for. If you would like the latest news on Andre, join us here on the blog. Yes I agree, the tickets will still be valid, and you will be missing a night to remember if you don't go!
Once you have been once, you will be itching to go again !

Hi Diane,
At least the concert has been postponed rather than cancelled. I echo Jeanine Ann's sentiments, that the inconvenience is understandable, but the concert is well worth the wait.
Please consider peeking at our blog, daily, this is where you'll find the latest Andre related news. I hope you will add your thoughtful comments to this & other blog topic.

Andre's business/tour manager has stated that Andre's health problem began with the flu which lasted several weeks and now is connected to physical burnout from an intense December schedule. When the first half 2012 JSO tour dates appeared(15 concerts in Brazil alone), my feeling was that Andre is absolutely pushing himself into another health reversal. One can only imagine how difficult it is for Marjorie and Pierre to try to get Andre to slow down and take time to smell the roses. I have sent one suggestion through Mirusia that Andre might consider at least temporarily to add a Captain's chair so Andre can spend less time on his feet. Also, he should strongly consider a co-conductor such as DJ Otzi (a fun guy) to give him a bit of a break at least in Europe. Even some kind of program lead partly by the Andre Sisters (Manoe,Lin,Stephanie) might give maestro less standing time at concerts. Andre please listen to more than your body. Marjorie and Pierre and probably Marc need to be heard too.

All of your suggestion, Gary are definitely worthy of serious consideration
I especially like your thought about a CAPTAIN'S CHAIR
I for one, would like to see Andre designate someone else to do the pre-concert tuning & sound check. Cutting back on travel certainly should be on the discussion table. Planning for 100 concerts a year instead of 200+ concerts, & staying in Europe is worth talking about, although I hate to think of no more concerts in U.S., Australia, or other countries that require a lot of travel. Doing more DVD's & fewer live concerts seems to me to be the BEST & most practical option .
In reality, I'm sure any suggestions I or anyone else have, have already been openly discussed & are under active & current consideration with Andre.
One thing is becoming increasingly apparent...the need for a PLAN B

The stress on Andre has to be enormous.
He has to speak in so many languages, play many music pieces by memory(?), remember a monologue, conduct, stand for hours holding a multi-million dollar violin etc. etc. Whether a Captain's chair or a Music(Johann Straus) bench, it would give Andre some relief. A Music bench with back and violin platform could be part of some funny skits too-JSO members like Franco trying to nap on it, fresh paint on bench, whoopie cushion, someone's shoe bottom w/hole showing on camera closeup). Think Perry Como and Andy Williams used to sit some during song performances. It shouldn't be a badge of honor
or masculinity issue to stand for hours and suffer when not feeling 100%. I guess PLAN B is to reschedule concerts but that makes the remainder of the tour year busier and more stressful. Rescheduling should be PLAN C and a new concert format put in effect as PLAN B.
I completely agree about doing fewer concerts plus a DVD or two. We fans put too many demands on Andre.

Oh Gary I agree, a captain's chair will do! The JSO will have a lot of fun with it. Anything to keep André on stage. He is the captain of my heart and his music is magical! Enjoy your weekend my friend. Love and hugs, Norma xxx

I agree. If Andre could not appear at all, I think there are people who could take over. It wouldn't be Andre but I'll bet they would be warmly received. I can picture Frank, and Ruud, doing some really good stuff. They've played the same music for 25 years so no problem in having a show on tap in case there is a problem. Rescheduling is not the answer because many many people cannot just pick up and go at any time and many have planned concerts for months. Plan B, a concert which is a collaboration of the JSO. Plan C, put someone in charge of P.R. and the website. They need to be in the forefront, not add things after the whole world already knows. I would definitely go to a Plan B concert. I don't know if Andre would allow it but I think it would increase his popularity when he does perform. Obviously something has to change. I am sure things are being discussed.

Thanks dear Deirdre for this tranlation, I am pleased that Andre is taking it easy so that his body will heal correctly. He needs as much rest as possible. He will please everybody in the end.
